If you've written a murder mystery party script, the natural next question is whether it's actually worth publishing — and how much you could realistically earn from it. Here's how the economics work.
How Pricing Works
As a creator, you set your own price for each paid story. Simpler stories with fewer characters and a shorter running time tend to sell for less than longer, more elaborate scripts with more characters, more props, or a more polished presentation — but pricing is entirely up to you.
The Commission
The platform applies a 30% commission on paid sales to cover hosting, payment processing, and discovery — you keep 70% of every sale. There's no cost to submit or list a story, so the commission only applies once it actually sells.
Getting Paid
Payouts run through Stripe Connect. Once your account is linked, you get paid out automatically as your paid stories sell, and you can track sales and earnings from your seller dashboard at any time.
Why the Free Story Matters
Every creator can publish one story for free. It won't earn you anything directly, but it's the fastest way to get hosts to try your writing, leave reviews, and come back for your next, paid story — think of it as the sample chapter that gets people to buy the book.
What Actually Drives Sales
- A clear, accurate description that tells hosts exactly what they're getting
- An honest player count and running time, so buyers don't feel misled
- Good reviews from your free story, if you've published one
- A theme or setting that stands out in a browse or search, rather than blending into everything else
